Sensibly Opinionated

Yay! only the second post for the year. No pretentious excuses, i have just been really lazy. There were a handful of times I wanted to start writing about random things but then again indolence crept in.

If you ask what made me want to scribble nonsense stories/opinions again, well,i myself couldn't come up with a prudent answer. The best response I could think of is that,I guess this is one of those few days when diligence took the better of me. Haha, that's me alright. Anyways, before I make more gibberish introductions on this entry, let's go ahead and start this second blog post.

I have been in this place for barely 4 months so my views might changed in a year or two but for now, these are what I think of it.

1. Open country sort of. Compared to a strict KSA, undoubtedly Qatar is a more receptive place. We are allowed to do a lot of things we were once prohibited in the kingdom such as driving a car, going out without the dreadful (for those who want to flaunt their sexy figures :D) abayas or the tarja that wont allow us to parade our multi-colored or straightened hair. Also, no curfews meaning night lives are on the go; not getting kicked out from shops/stores during prayer time. And possibly the best thing (especially for those in relationships) is that it's open to romance. (You do get what I mean, ayt? :D)

HOWEVER, nothing changes the fact that it is an Arab country with specific restrictions that we as expats should always abide by. A strict ambiance still lingers which of course alert us to be cautious all the time.

2. Pricey, costly, and everything else that is synonymous with expensive! Yes that's how I depict the lifestyle here. You get to have an acceptable range of salary only to be downhearted by the prices of commodities, plus you have to send money in the Philippines. So what's left of the wage? Barely enough to buy yourself a gift for a job well done during the previous month and a modest amount for your savings account.

This of course is an EXAGGERATION! (gotcha! haha) well that expensive standard of living is true BUT you'll actually be able to save something if  prudence and frugality are in your dictionary (which unfortunately seemed to have been erased in my case). There are a lot of temptations here you see, every so often you get to have shops on discount prices. And what more do Filipinos love, sale extravaganzas of course. Furthermore, we tend to pig out i mean dine out in cozy restaurants with a rationale that it'll only happen once. But then once became twice, then thrice, and then more counting.

Bottom line for me though, enjoy thy moment. It is okay to treat ourselves once in awhile besides it has been us who got tired of having an 8-hour a day, 5-days a week duty, right? Yet, we all are growing old and I think it wouldn't hurt if we could also at least set aside a portion of that remuneration for the future. It is anyway our future, isn't it?

3. Solitude. This may not be true for everyone here but as a newbie (again, barely 4 months in this place), I feel like I still couldn't get rid of that lonesome setting of this place. Don't get me wrong, I'm not lonely at all, God has been so good to have given me great friends. But you know, at times, I still feel like I'm alone, well it's sort of complicated to explain so I'll just leave it at that... for now... :)

4. Work in Progress. Gone were the days of toxicity in PEC Al Saad or Hamad General Hospital. Al Wakra has been a breath of fresh air and relaxation at least for the time being. Less patients, less work, less stress. True at times but then again, there are those specific exceptions. I won't go in detail on these because they're actually trivial things overshadowed by the blessings we are getting.

We don't do much work in this current hospital. Less work probably equates less knowledge, less exposure associates to less skills. In short, from time to time, whetting our nurses' minds is very much recommended.  Therefore, read and practice. I think there's no harm in this, what is an hour (or even less) of our daily time, correct? This I advise to myself most especially. hahaha

There you go! Finally I've finished thy post. I truly sense the next one will be sooner than expected, besides I have that itch to write another story. I've missed that.

Till next posting. Merry Christmas and A Blessed New Year!
